1. Introduction
MarketMaps (“we,” “us,” or “the Service”) is a market intelligence tool currently operating in public beta. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use MarketMaps, how we use it, the limited circumstances under which we share it, and the choices you have.
By accessing or using MarketMaps you acknowledge that you have read and understood this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide
MarketMaps does not require account creation to view the map. If you submit a beta access request through our form, the username and email address you provide are transmitted via your own email client and are not stored on our servers. We receive that information only after you choose to send it.
2.2 Information collected automatically
When you visit MarketMaps, our hosting provider may automatically collect standard technical information including your IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, referring URL, pages viewed, and timestamps. This information is used solely for security monitoring, abuse prevention, and performance diagnostics.
2.3 Information from third parties
Market data, pricing, news headlines, and corporate information shown in the Service are sourced from third-party data providers (see Section 4). We do not receive personal information about you from these providers.
3. How we use information
We use the limited information we collect to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Service
- Respond to beta access requests and user inquiries
- Detect, prevent, and address technical issues, abuse, or security incidents
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We do not use your information for behavioral advertising.
4. Third-party services
MarketMaps relies on the following third-party services to operate:
- Finnhub — market quotes, fundamentals, news, and IPO calendar
- Yahoo Finance — price history
- Google News — news headlines and metadata
- xAI — headline summarization
- Hosting provider — application delivery and standard server logs
These services have their own privacy practices, which we do not control. When you click an outbound link from the Service, you leave MarketMaps and become subject to the third party’s privacy policy.
5. Cookies and local storage
MarketMaps does not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics that profile users. The application may use browser local or session storage to remember UI preferences (such as selected filters or active panels). You can clear these at any time through your browser settings.
6. Data retention
Server logs are retained only as long as needed for the security and operational purposes described above, and are then deleted or anonymized in the ordinary course. Beta-request emails sent by users to our inbox are retained until the corresponding request is processed and may be deleted thereafter.
7. Security
We use commercially reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect the limited information we handle, including HTTPS in transit and access controls on operational systems. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal information we hold about you, and to object to certain uses. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the form on the homepage. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe and in accordance with applicable law.
9. International users
MarketMaps is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be processed in jurisdictions whose data protection laws differ from those of your country. By using the Service you consent to such processing.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the Service evolves or as required by law. Material changes will be reflected by an updated “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
